I got tickets to see Lisa Gerrard on May 29th in LA at the Orpheum Theater, Orchestra seats baby!! Anyone else going?
I have seen her twice solo and The Dead Can Dance twice. The first time I had front row seats at the Beacon in NYC I think it was 1989, the same fucking week that I saw The Cocteau Twins. It was my 1st year of college and I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. I also saw Siousxie and the Banshees for the 1st time that year and she is my alll time idol.
I saw DCD last year at The Hollywood Bowl with the Philharmonic and when she sang "The Wind that Shakes The Barley" alone on stage A cappella you could here a pin drop in that crowd of 3000, and it was outdoors!!!! A-Mazing.
i saw lisa gerrard that year as well as the cocteau twins.....i think you're right...it was 89....both amazing shows (the next time i saw cocteau twins they were not very good, don't know what happened)
didn't know lisa gerrard was coming...thanks for the heads up....gonna look for tickets now!! see you there : )

It wasn't! Not until the end of the month. She's always completely amazing, there's not a chance it won't be flawless!!!!

Awwww, that sux. She has a talent that definetely is coming from a power greater than herself, something otherwordly has decided to use her body as a vessel and we are the lucky ones to enjoy it!
I'll be at the show, but way up in the Balcony. Oh me oh my. But she's gonna fucking rock from any seat. Think I'm gonna be taking the train up from San Diego just to add to the experience.

Unfortunately, the day has passed but, luckily, the show was superb. I've seen her many times and this was a bit different but, of course, the vocals were out of the world. I think she is getting kookier as many artists tend to do as they get older. I don't think it's possible to have such an other-worldly talent and not be affected by it.
I think every other time I saw her she had a podium in front of her or, at least, I never noticed her Bride of Frankenstein hand gestures before. She's awesome but the crowd in LA was horrible!!!!! The entire theater was like a fucking ant farm. People could not stay in their seats or be quiet, I have never experienced anything like it before. The guy next to us tried to start a fight and got all machismo with us because he tried to barrel through us w/o saying excuse me or anything. There is no way for someone to pass you w/o you standing up and this jerk just smashed into our legs trying to pass. Weird venue to get aggro - I mean it's Lisa Gerrard not Lemmy!!!!!
Wow, I saw her in SF (very polite audience) and am sorry to hear the crowd was so ill-behaved at the Orpheum...especially to see Lisa. That just seems strange.
I hadn't heard her few most recent albums and have to say I rather like the turn she's taken musically in some of the songs. There's one in particular, wish I had written this sooner but I believe it had a beat and was a little bluesy-sounding. I really liked it. It was somewhere in the middle of the set, anyone perchance know what track this is? :)
